by assoc posted 02/01/2012 The Mid Fairfield Youth Hockey Association (MFYHA) is pleased to announce the formation of an alliance with the Connecticut Yankees. The alliance will expand a partnership between two long-standing and successful youth hockey organizations who share a common mission of providing the best environment to develop hockey players so that they may reach their full potential. The two programs have a strong history of collaboration throughout the years and this new alliance will ensure that this tradition continues in a more structured manner. Bob Crawford, the President of the Connecticut Yankees, will join Mid Fairfield as a board member.
Beginning with the 2012-13 season, the Mid Fairfield boy's teams will be called the Mid Fairfield Yankees and the girls will remain the Mid Fairfield CT Stars. Both the boys and girls will play a majority of their home games at the newly constructed state of the art facility at Chelsea Piers in Stamford, CT. The Mid Fairfield Yankees and Mid Fairfield CT Stars will field Tier 1 teams in accordance with CHC rules and regulations during the Fall/Winter season. The boys program will field teams from Mite B through Midget Major. Mite Major through Bantam Major will play an enhanced schedule in the Eastern Hockey Federation (EHF), Elite Division. The Mid Fairfield CT Stars program will field girls U10 developmental through U19, with U12 and U14 playing in the NEGHL. The Connecticut Yankees will continue to provide Elite level Spring/Summer AAA boys' and girls' teams as well as developmental clinics throughout the year.
Winter try-outs for Mid Fairfield Yankees and Mid Fairfield CT Stars will be held in April 2012. Try-out details will be posted shortly.
